Urban Ruins - Via Giuseppe Verdi

This piece of land next to the university has been under construction for years, not sure what the plan is, by now it seems to me like an urban ruin......

Piggy Or Teddy Bag

Saw this guy carrying this piggy bag near the cinema where the GLBT film festival was held.....Although I found the bag rather cute, but perhaps he should at least wash it before bring it out.....

Ohhhh....sorry, it is actually a teddy bear!

Simple Joys Of Spring : Dandelion

Dandelions are considered as wild flowers, they grow on everywhere, still after a long cold winter, it is such a joy to see them waving their bright yellow flowers all over the green field.

Spring Is Just Outside Of The Window

Every time I walk past this house by the riverside, I always take a look at the window, it is so pretty, decorated by the branches of the tree just outside of the house.

Vandalism Protest

At Porta Palazzo market, a group of girls were spraying words on the wall, kind of a protest against something....
Regardless of how righteous is the cause, this seems more a vandalism than a protest, beside dirtying the wall, I don't see any other result can come out from spraying 'words' on walls and ended up a waste of manpower and money.

Bus Stop

In Torino, there are many bus stops which are located in between two lanes, it seems to me rather unsafe, especially when someone is in a hurry to catch an about to leave bus, he might just dashes out without looking at the traffic of the inner lane. The stops are located in such a way maybe because they are also stops for trams, not sure if this is the reason.

A man at the bus stop in front of my block......

Double-Flowered Camellia

Every year, the row of camellia planted in huge vase at the bar around the corner of my block are the first blossoms I see in spring, This year there is no exception.

Map Reader

12 years ago when I first arrived in Torino, there were not so many tourists in Torino. After hosting the winter Olympics in 2006, more and more tourists are coming to visit, many choose to explore the city by themselves with just the map, and they are the 'Map Readers'....

A map reader at Piazza Castello....

Bookstore Glass Panel reflection

There is an elongated bookstore along via Garibaldi which is built completely in glass, the large glass wall panel reflects the people walking along this stretch of via Garibaldi, and is quite interesting to look at, especially when it rains.

Spring Crowd

Finally a day of spring, crowds of people were gathered in the center, enjoying outdoor in this warmer day.
People were just walking around, visiting the various temporary markets in  various piazza and of course eating and drinking in the open.

A particularly crowded Via Cesare Battisti, with stalls of the market on one side and tables of the restaurant on the other side, plus human traffic in the middle.

Vittorio Emanuele II

Victor Emmanuel II (Vittorio Emanuele Maria Alberto Eugenio Ferdinando Tommaso; 14 March 1820 – 9 January 1878) was king of Sardinia from 1849 until, on 17 March 1861, he assumed the title King of Italy to become the first king of a united Italy since the 6th century, a title he held until his death in 1878. The Italians gave him the epithet Father of the Homeland.

Sitting Room At Cavallerizza Reale

The Cavallerizza Reale is a building complex originally created to house the stables and apartments of the royal family’s cavalry officers. The Cavallerizza Reale is placed behind Teatro Regio and within easy reach from Piazza Castello and Via Po.
Today the Cavallerizza Reale is used partly as a theatre and partly it seems to me hosting some homeless guys who have actually built an 'open space' style home under the arcade.
Nevertheless, the Cavallerizza Reale has an important historical charm given also by the beauty of its spacious rooms.

The 'open space' style sitting room.

Tall trees shadowing the wall with beautiful windows.

Heavy Clouds Over The Town

Last week the weather was quite a temperamental one, clear sky in the day and in the evening, huge, heavy clouds would just rush in and cover up the sky, and then came the rain....

Heavy clouds covering up the sky above Piazza Statuto.

Along Via Garibaldi, the heavy, dense clouds were rushing in and covered up the clear sky.

Free Spirited

This guy saw me walking around with my camera, and he asked me to take a photo of him, I gladly agreed. He placed his hand on the door of a car and posed. Later, he just said thank you and walked away, didn't even ask to see the photo....
I like his free spirited attitude.
Regret that I didn't make a close up for him, pity....

This is also my first attempt in Dragan effect.

Pedestrians Crossing - April Theme Day

This is for the April Theme Day, Pedestrians crossing. Being a city with rather heavy traffic, Turin does have many Pedestrian Crossing, although quite often people don't really use them in a proper and careful way.....
